BMS / EMS Environmental Monitoring

Environmental monitoring systems are used in comms rooms and data centres to give an early warning of a potential problem. If an air conditioning unit develops a fault, quite often the first the client is aware of the problem is equipment going into alarm due to high temperature. With the advent of blade servers and other power hungry equipment, the room temperature can rise quickly. With a suitable EMS system in place, possible downtime can be avoided and a maintenance crew on the way before it has become an emergency.

We can offer bespoke systems tailored to your needs including monitoring for:

• Temperature.
• Water detection.
• Humidity.
• Alarm signals from air conditioning equipment.
• Alarm and operation signals from UPS systems.
• Alarm and operation signals from back up generators.
• There are also up to 28 dry contact alarms that can be configured as required.

The system is web browser viewable and can be accessed via any pc on the network. There is a graphical user interface available to give a diagrammatical view of the comms/data room. This can give real-time read outs on all analogue sensors, and graphical indication of a problem i.e. a change of colour from green to red when an alarm is active.

Digital read outs give air handling unit fault status, water detection notification, mains incoming failure, fire alarm activation and UPS status, such as voltage, current, bypass mode and temperature.

In the event of a fault, e-mails can be sent to a number of nominated recipients, one of which can be an emergency call centre that will send a fax or SMS message.
